Funnies: AmeriCorps VISTA Job Ad (In a realistic world)

"Seeking all commitment phobes with a severe case of wanderlust and varying levels of completely unspecific skills they garnered in a great university who don't feel a job is worth it, no matter the pay, unless there is passion behind it."

So I am super pumped about this book, and want to get my hands on it RIGHT NOW.
There has been some great press on it as well:
Natlie Portman talks about the book, actually a great little piece
Aaron Gross, executive VP of Farm Forward wrote this tidbit
Other major sources have yet to review it fully, it comes on Nov. 7th!

Ramblings: Giving things a second chance...

I recently decided to give the television show 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia' a second chance. I figured, it seems horribly funny enough, and a lot of people love it, why not try one more time? I orginally gave it a shot about a year and a half ago, and rented the first two seasons on netflix. I didn't get through to the second season. I thought it was funny, but it jsut didn't grab me and make me watch more.

But then, just this past weekend, I watch this episode:

And my thoughts were changed. This episode is from the fifth season of the show, currently airing on FX, and I peed maybe five times while watching it. pure genius. I love horrible people, a lot. and they hit the nail on the head with this one. SO watch it...love it...and do what I am doing, and try and give the kids a second shot, if you haven't already.

Ramblings: Getting in the Kitchen!

I don't know why I never thought of it before...convience I suppose...but here we go: I LOVE Tasty Bites. A LOT. As I heated up my Bombay Potatoes at work today, it hit me that I spend a lot on these...even though I usually only buy them when they are on sale at Freddie's, I still put down $2-$3 a pouch. that is one delicious meal. (at work, I admit, I dont add rice or anything...i don't feel like dealing with it, basically)
And at home, I don't usually eat Tasty Bites, b/c I don't own a microwave, and am lazy and don't feel like heating them on teh stove (though, they are oh so scrumptious cold). What is all this rambling leading to you may ask? Well here it is...I am going to start simply making my own huge pots of tasty bites.
I mean, one of the main reason I love tasty bites is that I can read every ingredient on the package it comes in. And most the ones I eat don't contain sugar. and I only buy the vegan ones. So why NOT make these on my own?
So I'm going to. Here are the ones I am going to make, b/c I already consume them in mass quantities: Bengal Lentils, Bombay Potatoes, Kerala Vegetables, Punjab Eggplant, and I am going to try this one: Malaysian Lodeh
Now on the same accord, I have said to myself for a time now that I was going to make my own salad dressings as well...b/c I am really picky, and there are only two that I REALLY dig right now, as in could lift the bottle and swollow down with ease: Annie's Goddess Dressing and Annie's Lite Gingerly Vinaigrette . I may even try a new one like: Annie's Lemon and Chive Dressing!

Shares: A Song

I don't care how religious this album is.

I don't care how simple the song is.
All I know, is that when it comes to Sufjan Stevens, and his album Seven Swans...I immediately turn it, always, to track 2.

Other Sufjan, that I adore:
John Wayne Gacy, Jr.
Casimir Pulaski Day
Decatur, Or, Round of Applause for Your Stepmother!

Ramblings: suck hair.

I got my haircut yesterday. The lady was off to a good start, asking questions, making suggestions.

it ended terribly. She didn't listen to me. She didn't listen to herself. She was scared to cut curly hair/ she probably knows nothing about cutting curly hair.

So, what did I end up with? A bunch of suck is what I ended with. I am slowly just praying for it to grow. grow. I now look at pictures, that were taken literally earlier in the day, and ask myself 'why, were you unhappy with this? It looks great. now you look suck. SUCK.'

...and I DIDN'T go with the haircut from earlier, b/c I didn't think I could pull it off, and still I got suck.

...Ill put up a picture sometime this week. sigh.

Shares: Broken Bells

I think this could be an intriguing combination, putting Danger Mouse and the lead singer of The Shins together. I shall follow this and see what comes...

Shares: BrandNew, Daisy

I have not heard anything from it yet, but they have never disappointed me. SO excited to listen, I thought I would share. Thanks to My Cousin Luke for letting me know they had a new album out, stoked!

Hair: It just wouldn't look right...

I have decided I want this hair, but believe that I could in no way pull it off with my face shape, etc. damnit. cause it is super cute and awesome x 10.

Fashion: I have decided...

I love clothes. And not in that, I have to have the best names brands, and wonderful in the NOW fashions kind of way. I jsut love the way someone can express themselves through clothing. It is amazing. You could give 10 people the same 10 articles of clothing, and not only will you come up with 10 different combinations, but even, by chance, if two people picked the exact same combination and wore them the same exact way on their frames, they would STILL look completely different because of how they would lay on their bodies. that to me is art. really. I love it. I am truly un satisfied a good portion of them time when I cannot pull together an outfit that makes me happy, or that lacks creativity, or that looks polished, or that looks unpolished because it should, or what have you. I love seeing what other people own, and how they wear it, and why it makes them who they are. I love clothing and the art of wearing them.

I think, on that note, I may start taking picture of my friends when they wear amazing combinations. That is one thing I love about my friends, they all wear very different fashions, and all pull it off so wonderfully. I may add strangers to this list too...Yes, I shall.

Now, I wont even begin to pretend I know what good fashion is, but I will treat it as I treat art...I like what I like, and really, is there anything more important than that?

I also think I am going to try my hardest not to post or talk about those clothing styles or looks that I do NOT like...because I am sure there is someone who can counter me, easily. Not everything is for everyone. Now this being said, I am SUPER judgemental, and I am sure it will slip in...
